I thought at first that the whate I was seeing was one of two Lilium ‘Alaska’s that I planted about two years ago. When I dug up the bulbs I damaged the lilium bulbs, so I was surprised to see white in my flower bed. Turns out the bees are doing their job and I now have a white Gladiolus.

And here come the Gladiolus ‘Peter Pears.’ It’s pretty amazing how the glads bloom in the same order every year despite having been planted at the same time.

I think this is a second red Gladiolus, as the spike of flowers is not originating from the same area of the flower bed. Amazing! And finally, we have the Gladiolus ‘Spic and Span,’ which I think is my favorite for the crimped edges.

Considering how fast I was able to put that together, it did not turn out that bad, though some of the money shots were autocropped irregularly.

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood…oh, wait! That’s a different show. Anyway, I just had to take some more pictures. Below you will see the Hippeastrum coming in, next to the Zantedeschia. Fortunately, you can’t see the flowers that were decimated by the snails. I will have to invest in snail killer next year.

And if you look very carefully, you can see the Gladiolus Peter Pears coming below.

I must have a green thumb because I noticed a fifth bloom on one stalk of my Hippeastrums; normally there are only four.

The other day I tried to take a picture of the Columbina passerina that has taken up residence in front of my window, but she got spooked and flew away. Yesterday, I noticed the squirrel in the same tree; even the father Columbina came by to participate in the commotion. I was able to snap pictures of mother Columbina and my Peeping Tom Tamiasciurus; that squirrel is always looking in my bathroom window.

This morning I finally kept my commitment to myself and set out to work in King Acres. I just noticed in the picture below that I managed to capture the entire King Acres grounds. As you can see it is a narrow slice of land starting with the Hippeastrums in the foreground and extending back past the Zantedeschia, past my front door, past the pot of Hippeastrum to the Gladiolus in the background.

Below you will find the strip of land that I cleared of grass and weeds. At the bottom of the picture, you will notice my Leucanthemum, which have seriously taken off on a growth spurt. Also pictured at the bottom of the picture is the last of Chrysanthemums – there is one plant pictured, just cut off. I noticed, as I was clearing the land yesterday, that most of the older Chrysanthemum stems came right out of the ground; apparently, you can’t just cut them down.

The best thing I can say about these Hippeastrum is that I found the red one. I also have noticed snail infestation, prior to their blooming. You can’t really tell, but many of the blooms are mangled due to snail appetites.

I think I may have misinformed you previously, by identifying these Gladiolus as ‘Peter Pears.’ They are actually the ‘Spic and Span’ hybrids. Upon closer inspection yesterday, I could not get over the amount of flower spires in this bed.

I had Dietes grandiflora all over the back yard and I know how bush they can become, so I took them out, separated the rhizomes and replanted them in the front yard. They are finally blooming and the neat thing is that they are blooming between the other bushes that were already in the front yard.

Yesterday I noticed that spires of flowers that had seemed like they came out of nowhere, they appeared so fast. Anyway, you can see that my Gladiolus ‘Spic and Span’ are starting to bloom. Right behind them, as usual, should be the Gladiolus ‘Peater Pears.’

This is the last post of Hippeastrum that I have. After this blooming season, I will move them with the rest of my Hippeastrum, which are just about ready to bloom. I finally found the Red one. Yay!

I took the Leucanthemum x superbum ‘Alaska’ these from the pot they were in because I did not feel that they were growing well. Sure enough, the pot was root bound because the water was draining from the pot too fast. It has only been about two weeks, but already I can see growth and hopefully, I will get a lot of blooms this year.

So let’s say Jesus was resurrected on April 8. Explain to me please why Easter is on a different day every year? A friend of mine explained it is because the holiday follows the lunar calendar. Sounds plausible, but who in today’s times follows the lunar calendar except for the holidays of their choosing?

And what holiday would not be properly observed with a familial hullabaloo. A couple days ago, I explained to my mother that I was waiting for my checks, which were originally delivered in February, but have never been received due to the idiots at the United States postal service. The explanation continued with another set being mailed to me, and which should be received with seven to ten days. Not more than two days later she is inquiring about money again! I lost my patience and left, telling her not to expect any money from me anymore, so she would not have to nag me. Later, remembering my bagel I had left at her house, I returned to find my female sibling there, lecturing my mother on how to repair her life, discovering that the police had been called…glad I missed all that.

Later in the day my brother came over to explain the police incident. My female sibling was threatening to call the police, reporting my brother for elder abuse. My brother called them for her and told them to come arrest him. Apparently, the police were confused and wished to speak with my mother. As my brother handed the phone to my mother, the female sibling grabbed the phone. I don’t know what happened after that, but the police actually came out. What a bunch of nut jobs!

My focus today were my flowers. I was worried when I transplanted my Hippeastrum that thy would not bloom, but already I am seeing flower bulbs coming up from the ground. Yay! I can’t get over how tall my Zantedeschia are growing. The prettiest one is so tall that it fell over and provided me with the whimsical picture below. I am down from two Nectaroscordum to one this year, but that’s okay, as I am not overly impressed with this flower.

My goal this weekend was to rid the area in front of the Zantedeschia of grass, but I got caught up in knitting the Talking Tina Slouch Beanie and crocheting Puff the Magic Dragon Afghan. As such, I did manage to transplant my Leucanthemum from their blue pot to the ground. Maybe they will flower more in the ground.

Rainy, overcast days are absolutely the best for taking picture’s of God’s creations. A majority of the images are the blooms from mom’s backyard: Cymbidium, Begonia, Scaevola aemula, Rhododendron and the two unknown blooms. By the way, if you know the names of the unknown blooms, please notify me. The Zantedeschia aethiopica is from King Acres.

I can’t believe we have not even turned the clocks forward — another stupid-ass tradition — and I already have my Freesia blooming. Since my nephew broke the pot the Hippeastrums were in, I finally got around to breaking it and transplanting the hippies to the bed in front of my window with my Zantedeschia, which are also blooming now. I don’t know if the Chrysanthemums I chopped down last fall will come back. We’ll see. You will also note the new paint job on the housing exterior.

Mom and dad are having both houses recoated and painted. I am so angry that they have destroyed King Acres, but like mom says, “It will grow back.”

This morning I stepped outside to take in some morning air and my first impression was that I had been transported through time to Jonestown. I just hope the Kool-Aid is cherry flavor – my favorite. Oh by the way, white is not going to be the new color, this is just the coating.

Though Leo is the one that had to do all the work. I am proud of myself though for keeping my promise to clean out the bed on Thanksgiving Day weekend. I cleaned out the bulb bed, which was fairly simple, as all the green had turned brown. I did notice that several of the corms in the front had leveled up a bit. The worst part was the weeds. And you might notice in the upper left-hand corner some flowers that are going to bloom. My guess is that they are more Narcissus.

In the south bed, I decided to cut the Chrysanthemum at the stock, as they had grown to 3-four feet high. I am pretty sure they will grow back, but only time will tell. The Zantedeschia are very prominent now and very big. I was going to transplant the Hippeastrum into the south bed, but I want to wait until they bloom first.

And fortunately enough for me, I spotted this huge Latrodectus geometricus (brown widow) before she spotted me and decided to take a bite.
