Snowden (2016)

Snowdensynopsis

Snowden, the politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world.

He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.

review

I lust Joseph Gordon-Levitt, so I would be remiss not to have seen this movie, though considering my opinion of Snowden as hero, it was a foregone conclusion that I would see this movie.

I found the story very interesting, especially the romance he had begun, which I had no idea about previous to seeing the movie. I thought the movie was too Snowden-biased, but then again, he was the subject of the movie. It was interesting that a change of mind made him blow the whistle, considering his strict adherence to rules. I was also impacted by what he gave up to leave the U.S.A.

In my mind, Snowden is a hero, especially considering my dislike of our government and its practices. The fact that our government considers Snowden a traitor, is evidence enough for me that our government is guilty and they want to cover it up so they can continue there illicit practices.
