The game is afoot! Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law put memorable imprints on the roles of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in a bold reimagining that makes the famed sleuth a daring man of action as well as a peerless man of intellect. Director Guy Ritchie helms the excitement, reintroducing the great detective to the world. Meet the new Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes
My attention was not fully on the movie except for the parts where Robert Downey Jr. was revealed, as I was crocheting while watching. The fact that dialogue was difficult to distinguish led to my decision to continue with my crochet.
Unsurprising in this “reimagining” was the level of violence. I always took Holmes as an intellect and perhaps that is the persona I prefer, though to be honest, shirtless Downey Jr. was good compensation, especially the scene where he is handcuffed to the bed!
I had seen this movie before, but not in its entirety; this accounts for my delay in actually viewing the movie from beginning to end. It was not awful, but I think all the action distracts from the concentration required to follow all the finer deductions.
I was surprised to see Mark Strong and just as attracted.
