Allow me to preface this story with the following evidence:

- When I wanted to change my work schedule, I wrote a note to the owner two weeks before I wanted the change to take effect. I never received acknowledgment of my request, nor denial of accommodation.
- Despite my ability to work two open shifts, the owner hired two new employees and scheduled them on days I could have worked per my schedule change.
- The boss called the store during a shift I was working, expressing a second need for me to work the weekend again – a month after my request to work only one weekend day and two weeks after finally accommodating my request. When he called, I expressed my desire to take the weekend of April 12-13 off to visit a sick relative, two weeks before that date.

I admit I knew I was scheduled for Saturday, April 12 before I left. I chose not to call and point out the error in scheduling – my reasoning is that I am never listened to anyway. When I returned Sunday, I found two voice mails from my boss, inquiring as to where I was on Saturday. I called him back and began to explain that I had requested the weekend off two weeks ago. To my utter surprise, he did not recall my request, accusing me of not caring about my job. While that job is not my top priority, I defend my carelessness by having always given sufficient notice. Anyway, I wanted to discuss the issue of his ignorance of my communications and he cut me off, asking if I had picked up my paycheck yet. I told him I would, fearing a pink slip would be attached.

When I did pick up my paycheck, there was no pink slip. I am thinking of writing a letter to the owner, discussing my grievances, but I am not sure about that decision. In the meantime, I am looking for another part time job immediately.
